W e are a residential outdoor yard haunt which endeavors to entertain and amuse the public every year with Halloween fun and warmth. Visitors are welcome to walk through the (grave)yard and enjoy the decorations, we also host a cider cart each year, which provides free hot cider to any and all who need a cup of warmth on a cold Halloween night.
Most decorations come out in early October, but the week preceding Halloween is when we really show the yard haunt. We keep the basic lights on from dusk to 10pm leading up to Halloween. Halloween night, we have everything running, which includes audio and projections. We also serve free hot cider and give out candy to trick-or-treaters.
With humble beginnings including particle board tombstones and a newspaper-stuffed witch, we have grown each and every year to what we are now; a full-blown neighborhood spectacle! Over the past decade we have created an all new graveyard, mausoleum, haunted towers, witches' apothecary, giant spiders, flying ghosts, a graveyard walking path, and we even tried growing our own pumpkin patch in 2007-2010. We've had many themes over the years, but we've tried to maintain a classic haunt that's fun for all ages. No blood or gore, no shocking props to jump out at you when you least expect it.
In 2012, we launched a large remodel project to completely change the look of our home from a modest Cape Cod style home (built in 1984), to a grand Second Empire Victorian built in 1884. Little did I know when I started, this project would take two years to complete, and include many trials. In 2012, we had an "under construction" theme while the exterior was being remodeled, and in 2013, we debuted the nearly completed remodel. Now, in 2016, the new haunt is ready to go.
