Share Your ExperiencesI did a haunted tour in 2024.
The hospital is open on the weekends for tours. Yes it does have new owners and yes they are slowly fixing it up to make it safer. The hospital is in bad disrepair so there are alot of places you can see but not walk onto. Windows are boarded up and no power or running water. When we were there, I had a bat fly into my hair, then heard giggling of a couple of girls, I guess they thought it was funny. On another floor, the temp suddenly dropped probably 15 degrees. It was already cold, but it went to freezing, just in that area. We did the overnight tour. I am very skeptical, they had ghost boxes that are supossed to tell u if a ghost is present or talking to you, I thought that was a gimmick, but others believed it. The stuff I told u, actually was real without a doubt. I'll go back in a couple years to see what has changed.
Posted 2/8/25Back open for investigations
www.colfaxhauntedhospital.com is back open as of April 2021. Tours are every weekend. The building has a new owner and ghost hunts will always be part of the plan for this building for years to come. Lots of activity from shadows, voices, footsteps, people being touched.

I forgot to mention
I forgot to mention this in my original post, but I’ve heard a rumor going around in Colfax that the person who bought the property has decided to renovate the old hospital and turn it into an apartment complex.... imagine living there, YIKES!!
Posted 11/7/20I grew up in Colfax
I grew up in Colfax, and actually used to live right across the street from this old hospital!! I personally was too afraid to break into the hospital myself, even though there was many occurrences that my friends would get the idea to, and would successfully break into the creepy hospital during the middle of the night while I remained on the front Door entryway With another friend of mine that volunteered to stay and keep me company so that I wouldn’t be alone and scared, waiting for all of my friends that had decided to go inside and explore the abandoned building to come back, once they were finished with their exploring... anyways, I’ll ask around and see if anyone has had any crazy experiences with the haunted hospital and will come back and share their experiences here. Sorry that I was too much of a scaredy-cat to ever go inside... that place always gave me the spooks just by simply looking at the place.... anyone who looks at it can tell that it has been through a lot during the days that the hospital was up and running with business.... however, I did hear that the old hospital, before it was shut down for good, was the towns former asylum for the mentally ill and insane before it was decided to no longer be suitable or stable to continue being a home for those that were deemed to be mentally unstable and/or insane and eventually moved their business to another building that is located only about a block away, where it can be found currently today, called “Paul’s Place”.
